Brief Overview:

Food Hygiene Level 4 (4N1119)

The programme will enable learners to deliver HACCP. It will ensure competency in the preparation of HACCP assessments.

Delivery of this programme may be in-house or is offered on a public basis in venues around the country. The facilitation of the program will consist of a variety of lectures, practical demonstrations and student-centred learning.

With a duration of 2 days this programme may provide transfer to other awards.

Progression

On completion of this QQI Level  Food Hygiene course learners can progress onto

  • QQI Courses – HACCP Implementation and Verification QQI Level 5, HACCP Design and Validation based on Risk Assessment QQI Level 6, Non related QQI courses  - PHECC FAR, Manual Handling ,Risk Assessment Assessors Training, Fire Safety

Entry Requirments

Entry Criteria:

English Proficiency:

  • To ensure the greatest opportunity for successful participation in our programmes, learners are required to have a good command of English in terms of reading, writing and speaking. This standard of proficiency is indicated by achieving or exceeding the standard of CEFR B2+Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or standard of 6.0 on the IELTS.
  • Learners who have achieved a passing grade at Junior Certificate level will be deemed to meet this criterion. However, learners for whom English is not their first language, are required to advise Carraig Safety Consultants, and may be required to provide evidence of proficiency. This could include completing a standardised CEFR test or equivalent.

IT skills & Resources:

  • Learners should have basic IT Skills. They will need to be able email, word process (Word) and use Presentation software (Powerpoint) and Zoom.
  • Learners must have good broadband access and their own laptop/ tablet with microphone and speakers and a working camera.
  • The course should be completed in a quite location. This can be tested prior to the course commencement.

General:

  • There is currently no specific requirement for participants to have completed a previous programme of training at a similar or lower level on the NFQ.

Assessment

Skills demonstration accounts for a maximum 20% & a 1.5 hour theory based examination accounts for maximum of 80% of allocated marks.

Grading is as follows -

  • Pass 50-64%
  • Merit 65-79%
  • Distinction 80-100%

Who should attend

This course is particularly aimed at food handlers, catering staff who prepare food for public consumption, staff who serve in hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, retail outlets and general catering establishments.  Also, non-food handlers who can affect the safety of food.

What course resources do I receive upon completion

You will be given access to all recourses via the Carraig Safety Website for the duration of the course. You can download these resources and use as required.

What do I need to bring?

We supply all course materials, manuals, packs and refreshments, however if the course is classroom based the learner should bring their laptop or tablet to complete course work.

What Certification will I receive?

You will receive a QQI Level 4 HACCP Certificate.
